11 Wayne Road
Milford, Massachusetts

If you get lost trying to follow these directions, call us at 1-508-478-5002 (from a cellular phone) or 1-888-494-3455 (from a pay phone) to help you get un-lost.

  1. Take I-90, the Mass Pike, to exit 11-A. This is east of Worcester and west of Boston. Last we checked, the toll is $1.10 from Sturbridge (exit 9, I-84) or from inside I-95/route 128. From Boston or Cambridge there is an additional $1.00 toll. From I-95/route 128 (I-90 exit 14; I-95 exit 25) the toll is 70 cents. We have Easy Pass™ now; if these amounts have changed when paying cash, please let us know.
  2. Take I-495 to exit 21-B. This is the first exit south of I-90, the Mass Pike. The exit is in Hopkinton, but the sign says “West Main Street Upton”. It's a westbound ramp. There are Gulf and Mobil stations just east of I-495; take exit 21-A if you need to refuel. Continuing east into Hopkinton you would come to route 135 in about a mile, but to get to us, head west, back under I-495. There is a flow-control traffic light at the end of the I-495 southbound exit ramp, but you must turn right there. Get in the left lane as the ramp widens.
  3. At the first traffic light, about a tenth of a mile from the end of the I-495 southbound exit ramp, turn left into SOUTH Street. If you exited from I-495 South, you should already be in the left lane, but a three-lane exit ramp helps you to get into either of the two leftmost lanes (WEST MAIN Street is four lanes going west and three going east at this light.
  4. About 3 miles from the traffic light, bear right onto TYLER Street. This is the first 40-degree turn, although you will have passed many right-angle turns. The first mile and a half was driving through the Hopkinton Industrial Park, home of EMC Corp., then you drive through a stand of trees into a residential neighborhood. The name of the road changes to PURCHASE Street at the town line, although there is no indication of that change, just an inobtrusive post for the town line on your left. The speed limit drops to 30 MPH, and the Milford police use radar to enforce it; you have been warned. Just before the turn, you pass under a cleared right-of-way for high-voltage power lines. Across from TYLER Street is the Mother Hubbard's Too nursery school. If you miss this turn, the next right is a hairpin turn onto SILVER HILL Road, which you can take instead.
  5. At the first STOP sign, turn right onto SILVER HILL Road. TYLER is about a sixth of a mile long. The turn is sharply down and to the right; take it slow when the road is slippery, or you'll decorate a stone wall on the left with your car. Straight ahead at this intersection takes you back to PURCHASE (SOUTH) Street; oncoming traffic does not have a STOP sign.
  6. At the end of SILVER HILL Road, turn left onto CONGRESS Street. SILVER HILL is about three-quarters of a mile ling. The end is also the first STOP sign. NOTE: the street sign on the pole to your right will say WHITEWOOD Road. The sign dead ahead says CONGRESS is to the left, and WHITEWOOD is to the right. (This can be confusing.)
  7. In about a tenth of a mile, turn right onto WAYNE Road. This is the first right. There is a red and white fire hydrant on the left across from WAYNE Road. Drive slowly when there are leaves on the trees, or you might not see the street sign until it is too late to brake gracefully.
  8. Our house, #11 WAYNE Road, is the sixth house on the right. Also the last driveway on the right before WAYNE Road ends at WOODRIDGE Road. The house is bright blue; think Disney™. The number 11 is on the mailbox, but not on the house.
  9. Park, either in our driveway or on the street. (When there is snow that needs plowing, parking on the street is not a good idea.) Walk to the front door and ring the doorbell. Often we can't hear it, so if there is a long wait and you don't have a cell phone, open the door (if it is unlocked, there is someone on the premises) and bellow. At the present time, the back bedroom on the right side (standing in front of the house) of the second floor is the control/mastering room.
