We run Love Song Productions out of our house, which is in a quiet, residential neighborhood. It's a perfect location for a recording studio, because there is no heavy truck traffic nearby, which is especially difficult to soundproof against. We looked at a number of other towns, but zoning regulations (which are different in every community) keep us in Milford, which allows our business as a registered home occupation.
MapQuest often gives usable directions, but they do not have as many landmarks and other information in them as the directions on this web site. If you have a GPS tracker, our latitude is 42 degrees, 9 minutes and 47 seconds North, and 71 degrees, 32 minutes and 40 seconds West. 71 degrees West is shown as longitude -71 on MapQuest.
It seems that the directions we most frequently give out are the ones which approach us from the north. You can use them from the west, such as Buffalo or Albany, NY, or Springfield or Sturbridge, MA. You can also use them from the east, such as Boston, MA, or from the north, such as New Hampshire or Maine.
The directions from the north are also the best route from New York City, and from Connecticut east of Hartford and New Haven, taking I-91 to I-84 to Sturbridge, MA, exit 9 on I-90. That's because the interstates which pass just north of us are more direct than I-95, which passes through Providence, RI, to the south.
The other main approach is from the southeast, such as from coastal Connecticut east of New London, most of Rhode Island, and Massachusetts south of route 128, Cape Cod, or anywhere on the South Shore.
If you just want a more direct route to reach us locally, such as from Milford, or from Ashland via route 135, Bellingham via route 140, Holliston via route 16, Hopedale, Medway via route 109, Mendon, Upton via route 140, or Uxbridge via route 16, call us; more approaches may eventually be added to this web site.
By train, the closest Amtrack stations are Providence, RI; route 128 (outside Boston); and Worcester, MA. There are no bus lines which stop near our house, but there are bus terminals in the same cities, as well as in Framingham, MA. The closest MBTA subway stop is Riverside (Green Line), though Alewife (Red Line) is accessible and closer to the center. There are also airports. All of these are between 40 minutes and an hour away by car, traffic permitting, except the Framingham bus terminal, which is 30 minutes away.
If you have your own plane, there is a general aviation airfield, Hopedale Industrial, only three miles away. Otherwise, lacking a car, you are in for a very long hike (the Boston Marathon starts just over 6 miles from us and somewhat closer to Boston), or a fabulously expensive taxicab fare. You can call us to come and get you, but prearrangement is strongly recommended.
The closest public transportation is the commuter rail, out of South Station, Boston. Forge Park, at the end of the line of the same name, in Franklin, is about 20 minutes away, and takes about an hour from Boston. Framingham, on the Framingham/Worcester line, is also about 20 minutes away, but only takes half an hour to reach from Boston, and is cheaper. Drive-time estimates assume good weather and light traffic; rush hour varies from worse to much worse.
